Newly surfaced footage circulating online appears to show the ongoing assault by suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) against a military position in Geidam, located in Yobe State.

Viewer's Discretion is Advised

In the video, intense gunfire can be heard, with visible flames rising in the distance, suggesting that parts of a military facility may have been set ablaze. The footage appears to show what observers believe is a Nigerian Army camp under active assault, though official confirmation from the Nigerian Army has not yet been issued.

Security sources have yet to verify the extent of damage, casualties, or whether the attack has been repelled. Residents in parts of Geidam are reported to be fleeing as the confrontation continues.

Geidam has historically been a flashpoint in Nigeria’s northeast insurgency, frequently targeted due to its strategic military presence.

Authorities are expected to release an official statement as the situation develops.

This remains a developing story.
