Development Should Never Be Political

Development in a country or state should never be subjected to political interest. As a President, Vice President, Governor, Senator, or even a local government official, your first and highest responsibility should be the well-being, safety, and progress of your people , not the pursuit of political gain.

Sadly, in Nigeria, the reverse is often the case. We see leaders who neglect communities simply because they did not vote for them. Areas that should receive equal development are left behind as a form of punishment, and this is not leadership, it is failure.

A true leader serves everyone, not just supporters. Development should not be a reward for loyalty or a weapon of revenge. Every citizen deserves good roads, quality education, healthcare, electricity, and opportunities — regardless of their political choice.

When leaders start seeing development as their duty and not a favor, that is when true governance begins. Until then, progress will remain selective, and the nation will continue to crawl instead of run.
