El-Rufai Publishes Letter to NSA, Seeks Clarification Over Alleged Importation of Toxic Substance
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has made public a letter he wrote to Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), seeking clarification over reports alleging the importation of thallium sulphate, a highly toxic chemical substance.
El-Rufai disclosed this via his official account on X (formerly Twitter), where he also shared images of what he described as receipt copies of the letter submitted to the Office of the National Security Adviser.
According to him, his action was taken as part of his civic responsibility, following reports suggesting that the NSA’s office may have been involved in bringing thallium sulphate into the country. He described the development as a serious matter deserving public clarification.
Thallium sulphate is widely regarded as a dangerous toxin. It is colourless and odourless, making it difficult to detect without specialized testing and potentially hazardous if misused.
“It’s a matter of concern if anyone brings in any poison, more so an odourless, colourless one,” El-Rufai stated in his post.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Office of the National Security Adviser regarding the allegation.
